Creative Development

Start with what needs to be said.

Creative direction and planning for film and photography projects, whether you bring a developed brief or an idea that still needs definition.

We work with your team to shape the story, visual approach, interviews, scripts, production materials, and intended uses of the finished work. We begin with what you need to communicate, who it is for, and where the work needs to live.

Two guests enjoying a picnic beneath the trees Vineyard hills beneath a pink evening sky Wine beside an outdoor fire A woman reviewing wines at a table Sunlit building framed by olive trees Golden evening light across the coastal cliffs and Pacific ocean Two people talking beside a red pickup truck Aerial view of a winding road along the Pacific coast A grower walking through the vineyard Rolling hills beneath a dramatic evening sky Birds flying past a tall tree above green hills Winemaker smiling among vineyard rows Food, cheese, and wine arranged across a table

Story & Narrative

Find the throughline.

We work through the brief, existing material, people, products, processes and ideas to identify what matters most and how the pieces connect, developing the narrative structure, treatment or story outline the project needs.

Interviews

Ask better questions.

We research subjects, develop interview frameworks and questions, and think through who should speak to what, while leaving enough room for the conversation to reveal something we couldn’t have planned.

Scripts & Story Frameworks

Give the story structure.

From scripts and treatments to outlines and interview-led frameworks, we develop the structure that fits the project rather than forcing every story into the same format.

Visual Direction

Decide how the story should feel.

References, locations, subjects, environments, shot concepts and storyboards establish a visual direction strong enough to guide production while leaving room for what we discover on location.

Shot Development

Know what we need before we arrive.

We build shot lists around the story and finished work, identifying the essential scenes, sequences, portraits, process, product, place, details and coverage the production needs.

Production Planning

Turn the creative into a working day.

We plan deliverables, runtimes, formats, and intended uses before production, identifying what else may be worth creating while the shoot is already in place. Production itineraries bring together locations, interviews, subjects, timing, priorities, and access, translating the creative direction into a clear plan for the day.

From Concept to Completion

Creative Development can prepare a project for production or become the starting point for a larger WSP assignment. When we carry the full project, that direction continues through film production, photography, editing, versioning, and final delivery.
